success" say organizers. Proceeds added up to just under $2,000. Monies

additional equipment and signs for the popular park.
The committee reminds visitors to the dog park to be good citizens and clean up after dogs. Thank you!
Committee Calls for Second Annual Benefit Yard Sale Donations
June 1, 2010: Got
extra stuff you no longer need? The Low Gap Dog Park Citizen Committee
needs donations of clean, usable items to sell at a benefit yard sale
in Ukiah on July 17.
All proceeds from the yard sale will be used for maintenance and
improvement of the new Dog Park at Low Gap Park on Low Gap Road in
Ukiah. Furniture, tools, household miscellaneous, books, and assorted
other items will help make the area’s only off-leash dog park even
better. Clean out the garage, attic, or closets and call Kathy at 367-0615 or Jennifer at 463-2670
for more information about donating those no-longer-needed but
still-usable things to help make Low Gap Dog Park more fun for dogs and
their people.
If you haven’t visited the new Dog Park yet, take
your best friend and go on out to the park for some exercise and
socialization!
The Fence is Up!
November 1, 2009: Separate
large and small/shy dog areas are now fenced at Low Gap Dog Park. Each
area includes a double-gate entry to allow access without danger of a
dog accidently getting out. The dog park is located up the paved
walkway into the park near the disc golf course. Signs will be added
soon. Low Gap Dog Park is the result of a cooperative effort of the Low
Gap Dog Park Citizen Committee, the County of Mendocino, the City of
Ukiah, and the generosity of the citizens and businesses in the
community.
Fund raising efforts continue to improve the park. Phase II
funds will be dedicated to amenities to make the park more usable and
comfortable. These amenities will include water stations, shade
structures, an information kiosk, and trees.
Phase III
funds will be used to make Low Gap Dog Park even more fun, adding dog
play structures for activities such as agility. Donations of play
structures would be greatly appreciated. See www.dog-on-it-parks.com or
miracleplaygroup.com for more information on dog play equipment.
Donations
to Low Gap Dog Park can be sent to Low Gap Dog Park Fund, 411 W. Clay
Street, Ukiah, CA 95482. Call 463-6231 for more information about

Funding Still Needed For Dog Park
March 1, 2009: The state of the economy
affects everything, including fundraising for the planned dog park at Low Gap
Park. We thought we were approaching enough money to fence the area, but it now
appears that the county will require $20,000 in our account before moving
forward. More fundraisers will be required to reach that goal.
Dam Dog Walks will resume on
April 19 at 8:45 a.m. and continue each Sunday after. You and your dog can
visit with friends on a walk across the dam. Bring water for you and your dog.
All dogs must be leashed. Meet in the upper parking lot near the dam entrance
at the end of Mendocino Drive. Fun prizes can be won in a raffle benefitting
the Low Gap Dog Park. Come join the fun. If you have something to donate to the
raffle, call Sallie at 463-3647.

Low Gap Dog Park Phase 1 Fund Now Totals More Than $9,000

I development fund now totals more than $9200.
Approximately $13,000 is needed to fence and cross-fence the one-plus
acre site at Low Gap Park. The perimeter of the designated site will be
enclosed with four-foot high chain-link fencing. A double-entry gate system
will ensure safe entrance to and exit from the park. The dog park will also be
cross-fenced with four-foot high chain-link fencing into separate large and
small dog areas. Once Phase I is completed, fundraising will continue toward
further improvements to the park, including water, shade trees or structures,

City Dog Park Effort Looking for Support
by Zack Sampsel/
Ukiah Daily Journal
Feb. 21, 2008: With support from the city, county and community, man's best friend will have more fenced-in room to run along Low Gap Road.
Previously, the city and county agreed to set aside an area of land at
Low Gap Park as a leash-free dog park. With the land set aside, the Low
Gap Dog Park Committee began phase one of preparing, planning and
fencing in the leash-free oasis, which will be secluded from
residential areas and feature on-site parking.
The first phase includes raising funds for fencing to create sepaate
small and large dog areas. Once the area is safely fenced and in use,
further fundraising is expected to add landscaping, trees and benches.
According to the Low Gap Dog Park Web site, the park will be designed
with a concern for the environment, dog park users, and visitors to Low
Gap Park.
People interested can make a tax-deductible donation in your name, you
favorite pet's name, or your business. Make checks payable to: City of
Ukiah - Dog Park Project Trust. Donations may be mailed or delivered
to: City of Ukiah, Attn: Dog Park Project, 411 W. Clay, Ukiah CA 95482.
